How to do combat - Part 1 : picking your troop type

The combat system in Vikings:War of Clans is harder than in other similar games (like Clash of Clans). Because it is more punitive on the attacker as it is on the loser.


First thing you need to do when you want to go out and fight other vikings is to choose the type of unit you want to train.

Reason behind this is because of the way the Hero Skill Tree is made by design: it is impossible to improve more than one type of unit.

To help with the decision we will use an image posted on the Plarium forums by the community manager:

Here we see all the bonus damage that various troop types have against other troops.

This should help you in choosing what type of unit you want to focus on and doing so early on in the game will help you save alot of time on upgrading knowledge because you will not be spreading into more than one category of troops.
