8 Things you should check before attacking without scouting!

Hello everyone and welcome to another VikingsWar of Clans Guide!

In Vikings War of Clans, combat is very punitive as the loser will drop 80% of his total troop count to the winner, thus making it very risky to launch an attack because if you are not sure you will win , you can lose a bunch of influence and a lot of time and resources that went into training those troops will be lost in vain.

Sometimes it is hard to gather information about your enemy and it is virtually impossible to scout an enemy town if he is active and has his shield up.

When your enemy drops shield to attack or to scout or to plunder and he is too slow to shield back up, you have a very small time window to attack him.

Obviously you do not have time to send scouts when this happens and you need to be fast on the response to catch him off guard!

Here are 8 tips on what to check fast , before sending your attack to help you decide if you can win the fight or not.

1. Actual influence

Influence is a very important tell in Vikings War of Clans so you will not try or should not try to attack an enemy with more than double your influence unless you are trying to lose your troops.

There are exceptions to this like players that just increased knowledge or buildings and have a very weak fighting force.

2. VIP Level

If you have a higher VIP level than your oponent you get the upper hand because VIP bonuses are on your side.

Check out the VIP Guide to find out more on how to increase your VIP level.

3. Town level

Town defense bonuses are greatly improved by the town level. Usually a town Wall level is 1 level behind the Palace and this also goes for the Watchtower - both of these buildings greatly increase a town's defensive potential.

4.Shaman Type Level and Equipment

You can tell a lot by a player's play time or spending by checking his Shaman. Does he have a paid shaman , what is his initiation level? What kind of equipment does he have on the Shaman.
And this will also help you find out what types of units he uses if he has one of the Pay to Win Shamans.

Check you the Baggi The Big Shaman Guide to find out how to increase your shaman's level and what equipment to use.

5.Hero Presence/Level/Equipment

Is the hero in town ? Does the Hero Level greatly surpass yours? Does he have better quality equipment than you?

If the answer to those 3 questions is YES then your chances of winning are dimished.

If the hero is in town he can provide his bonuses to all the troops , not just the ones that fit in a march.

Hero Level gives more skill points to spend therefore making the whole army stronger.

Equipment bonuses bring even more bonuses to the whole army.

You can find out more on how to spend your points for Combat in This Guide.

6.Position

If he is off in a random area doing nothing and away from his clan, he is less likely to be a trap town.

If he is in a easily noticeable position like close to the POP or near a Silver Altar or close to his clan mates then he is most likely to be reinforced.

7.Behaviour

If you noticed this town jumping around and pillaging for example and you see him not paying attention to his shield or being lazy on shielding back up fast , you have a greater chance of getting an attack in.

You can also watch him closely , let him feel safe attacking more towns at once and then try to get only a portion of his army inside the town so you gain points for killing his army and his town's resources.

8.Win/Loss Ratio

This one is a bit deceiving because you can influence it by attacking resource tiles a lot and have more wins that way.

However it is good to make an idea on how well your oponent knows the combat mechanics , if he enjoys it he is most likely geared and has Hero Skills for it and it is a good overall measurement on how involved he is in fights.

Conclusion :

You can easily check all these things at a glance once you become more used to it. And you can save up on shields because you do not attack in 2 steps : Scout and Attack.

But it is very valuable knowledge when attacking on a moment's notice, so make sure you use it well!
