Hero Skill Setup : Farming and Combat Hero Skills

Hi everyone!

As promised in the Hero Sets guide, we will talk about the two most common Hero Skill Sets and how to best use our hero skills when we start out but this will also help alot later on in the game!

We will now talk about and illustrate the Farm Mode and Combat Mode Hero Skill Sets:

Please note that these Skill Sets were made using a total of 245 Hero Skills ( Level 48 Hero ) to come to the aid of low to mid range players that want to become more efficient in the game with the aid of Hero Skills.

The Farm Mode Hero Skills:
Farming Hero Skill Set

When making a Skill Setup , you must understand what it is you want from that specific skill tree.

The farm mode has the following bonuses :

Maximum Knowledge and Building bonuses , Maximum Yielding Speed Bonus possible from hero skills and 1 or 2 resource production bonuses completely maxed out , depending on your town setup (1 or 2 resource Hyperfarm)

Whenever you want to get a bonus from your skill tree in Vikings:War of Clans, you should always aim for the highest rank of that skill first!

The town I used to take the screenshots has a level 48 hero so he's not even that high up there.

As you can see , I went for Rank III Stone Production and Rank III Iron Production first because my town is a stone and iron Hyperfarm.

After, I completed the key elements of my build by maxing out Building II, Learning Speed II , Building I , Learning Speed I, then got Resource Yielding II and started on Iron II and Stone II untill I ran out of points. (Remember this is a level 48 Hero)

After the Hero will level up, I will complete Iron Production II , Stone Production II and Resource Yielding I.

And you are done with the basics!

Special Notes: If your town also produces Silver and you bank it somewhere else, you can spend the next points you get on that.

If the town you make the build for banks the silver and is not focused on production you can go ahead and get more points in Capacity or reduce the cost of upgrades.

You can read more on Town Setup in our Town Setup Guide.

You can get creative with your skill tree, I do not want to create a precedent where everyone has the same hero skills but this basic root of it is a must for your Farming Mode Skill Tree.

The Combat Mode Hero Skills:

Before checking the combat mode hero skills , I strongly advise you to read the Combat Guide. Back there I avoided talking about hero skills too much because it felt a bit too much to expand upon.

Combat Hero Skill Tree
If on the Farming Skill Tree we had remaining points , the situation is on the oposite end when we are talking about the Combat Skill Tree.

I always feel like I do not have enough points when making a Combat Skill Tree but that is probably because of the low level of the Hero used in this example.

First of all you want to upgrade all the "debuffs" completely.

So 50 points in Enemy Troop Offense, 50 points in Enemy Troop Defense and 50 points in Enemy Troop Health is a must for any proper Combat Build.

After that I like to get another 50 in Troop Offense II and then just work my way back up and upgrading whatever I need for my chosen troop.

Like I advised in the Combat Guides, it is crucial to choose one troop type and stick with it because of this aspect alone - Hero Skill Points.

When building your Combat Skill Tree, always make sure you upgrade Offense / Troop Offense first.

One could argue that with so little points you should just go for all the generic Troop upgrades, like Troop Offense II , Troop Health II, Troop Defense II and then move to Rank I of these.

I think you can have so many variations of skill distributions that there is no "perfect combat skill tree" - except the one you make yourself of course.

A perfect example would be , if you are using Melee to get the trio of 150 points (enemy debuffs) and then just get everything related to Melee.

Maybe you think you can get the defense from equipment and gems and then get only health and offense from your skill tree, or get Offense from combat and defense from your skills.

However I cannot stress enough how important the debuffs are.

They provide procentual advantage over any army. Even if your oponent has higher tier troops than you , these 3 skills allow you to win in most cases because , in theory if your opponent's combined attack power is 10B (added attack from all his troops) , if you reduce it by 50% he is only left with 5B.

Same goes for health reducers and defense reducers. They are just too strong.

Not to mention that in case of an attack on someone with more influence than you you will most likely use more attack reducers from the buff menu.

They are a tiebreaker in alot of situations. That is why I believe they are so very important.

Special notes:

This Hero Skill Tree was made on a very low level hero , relatively low level town and I would not advise anyone to attack using only so many points.

But if you just have to do some troop killing , you are most welcomed to use this build as it is generic and not focused on any troop type and it even leaves room to grow because Troop Offense II is not even completed yet.

If you do want to continue this Skill Tree and use it as your own, as you level finish Leveling Troop Offense II , jump into Troop Health II , Troop Defense II , then I would advise you get the Troop Type bonuses ( ex Killer Health/Attack/Defense or whatever troop you focus on), because these bonuses apply to that troop type regardless of the troop tier.

And these will only add up to your Knowledge and make that type of troop that much more stronger.

I hope you enjoyed this guide as much as I liked making it and I hope this proves to be useful to you.

  1. I wonder if it takes away from 50% of their total value or say if they have a 250% buff lowering it 50% would bring it down to 200%?

    1. Good question there - as there is no official answer on this from Plarium I would say that buffs counter buffs just like you said cause it would make more sense but I can't know for sure. It's up to you to experiment with it :)

  2. Do troops actually defend while attacking or should the points be focused on offense and health when building an attack hero?
